“Carine taught me for nine months, moving me from a very low predicted GCSE grade to a comfortable six. Carine has energy and passion and knows how to motivate young people to think differently about language learning.  When you are doing GCSEs it is easy to be overwhelmed by the volume of subjects and work. I had slipped back in my French and badly needed support if I wasn’t going to fail. In no time at all, Carine understood where I was strong and where I was weak.

She found interesting ways to bring the subject to life, focusing on things that interested me but also firmly focusing on the requirements for the exam curriculum.  She pushed me when I needed pushing and was really motivational. She sent me simple tasks to keep practicing between lessons and prodded me gently when she could see I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. She clearly genuinely cared that I did well in my exam and was continuing to move forwards. I can get quite anxious about exams, but over our time together she massively improved my confidence in speaking and listening translation.  And most of all, I really enjoyed our lesson times together.”
